Will Apple's Steve Jobs Announce A Corporate Partner ship ?

With just a week to go Hype is building around the WWDC "one more thing" feature that Steve loves to keep in his well loved denim.

Likely Candidates for a BIG OOOHHHH AHHHHH Moment.

  1. Launch of iPhone 4 - hardly a surprise since the Gizmodo reported Bar Incident!
  2. Announcement of a "serious" Partnership arrangement - Certainly not an seat shaker but would be clearly aimed at the Wall St crowd.
If we take the video Conferencing as a Given then Mr Jobs needs a BIG plan B
So Who would Apple Partner with ? and Why ?

With 100,000 Apps running around and a fundamental OS impasse with Adobe there seems Two likely candidates
  1. Java, With Oracle and Sun still tango-ing it is Java integration is unlikely as it would effectively under cut the entire WWDC Crowd resulting In Steve being dragged from the stage and used as iPhone recycling bag. Certainly an ArrggHHH moment but not the one we would be looking for
  2. An ERP OR Tier ONE ISV Platform. Recent releases of "consumer" business apps on iphone Platforms include IBM's Domino or Lotus Client or perhaps a more corporate high profile Partner Like SAP for instance here's SAP's slightly rush to market and under PR'd entrance to the iPhone and iPad online market. SAP BusinessObjects Innovation Center prototypes - SAP BusinessObjects Explorer on iPhone. Just rolls off the tongue doesn't it ?
Perhaps it sounds Apple Sexxy in German ? Like when a German Apple iPod genius whispers " Ich Benin Ein Sex Machine" into the voice recognition software. I cannot wait to hear Steve's intro to SAP's Man on the spot running that script!
  3. Some 'other' Killer Cloud App like Video conferencing. Based on an existing install base like Skype. The AIM contract must surely be running out by now !
There are Quite a few IPhone Apps and gadgets now in the wild that overcome the rear facing camera limitation like the one you see here. Remember Apple holds a patent for this !
Check out Mac Daddys World for some more depth.
Where to ? Pod Man ? To the Pod Cave of course ! Voice Rec away Pod Mobile!

hold the Press!

The rumour mill search engine of choice has thrown up a Dark HORSE Silverlight for iPad dark indeed!

Steve Jobs to Deliver Apple's WWDC Keynote on June 7

Gizmodo has some Comments and industry Buzz
but the Classic is the Comments picture that shows the
2008 iPHONE
2010 iPad
2012 iBoard
2014 iMat

While humorous as it may seem the Printed LCD Technology and the insatiable growth of WOW factor touch interfaces and the supporting Haptic when combined with Text 2.0 means that Apple are well in front on the Race to the Magic Quadrant. For my more esoteric thoughts on Text 2.x look here UnravelTechnobabble

iPad Eats iPhone?

Wll the iPad Launch would cannibalise the iPod and iPhone sales. Here's a snapshot courtesy of some hard working volunteers at Wiki.org who are tracking the iPod. I expect Apple actually have dedicated team in sales operations tracking htis and their next nearest rival but with such a white-space behind the leader the shape of the curve is more interesting than the numbers.

It shows some interesting trends and spikes.
I'll post again in a months time when Apple release the iPad to the rest of the world !

Day One For Telstra and iPad
And New in is that at least in Australia long time grumblers Telstra are going to provide DAY ONE support for 3G enabled iPads. This makes the iPad the instant development platform of choice for Software Vendors in the ERP and Mobile Workforce space.

iPad and OS4.0 not yet?
I expect The ERP crowd will be yelling bad sports at Apple for not releasing the MORE threaded the OS4 NOW . Apple it seems have found it needs some more work. Link over to Engadget for more coverage.

They talk to each other !

With IPods breeding like rabbits It was only a matter Of time until some one taught them to talk to each other. Lucky for the humans that Skynet doesn't run on Solar Powered iPods!
BUT lucky that someone grew up playing NEC's Entertainment System MotoRoader.

The Pad Racer App takes us back to 1991 but has the massive time wasting productivity of the iPod and iPad. and all in the Glory of Wireless Bluetooth for $4.99 and a paltry US$900 worth of ipods. Which you may just have lying around any way!?
